This is a thematic tour of Croatian Zagorje perfect for history lovers because you will see many historic sites, castles, manor houses, and churches. We start with the Castle Trakošćan, the most beautiful castle in Croatia that was built as the small medieval castle in the late 13th century. In 1954 Trakošćan was established as the museum with a permanent exhibition. Today the castle is owned by the Republic of Croatia.
We continue driving towards The fort of Veliki Tabor.
It is one of the most important cultural and historical monuments of secular architecture in continental Croatia, with a unique monumental and authentic fortification structure (much more beautiful from the outside because the inside renovation isn’t finished)
Finally, we continue to the Ethno village Kumrovec founded in 1954 – famous for the birthplace of Marshal Josip Broz Tito – late Yugoslav president who ruled dictatorially until his death in May 1980. Even at that time, Tito’s village was one of the must see in ex-Yugoslavia. Beautiful ethnic village represents the expression of life in those small houses and surroundings.
