Cavtat was founded by Romans as the Epidaurus colony and its name came from the Latin expression Civitas Vetus. Its past, present, and future are closely tied to Dubrovnik’s and this historically rich area is a delight – its Old Town is a warren of narrow streets and cobbled alleys, and its serpentine waterfront promenade that frames a picturesque harbor is much more than charming.

But Cavtat is also known as the birthplace of one of the greatest Croatian artists – realistic painter -Vlaho Bukovac/ Biaggio Faggioni. Don’t miss his house, museum, and atelier in Cavtat.

What makes Konavle Croatian Attraction?

It’s just the fact how its folk traditions and way of life have remained so intact. And today we get a rare opportunity to experience its signature culinary dish in an authentic restaurant Konoba deep in the hillside – the finest lamb slowly roasted under a thick iron pan covered in hot coal served with a glass of delicious local wine!
