Split, Klis & Sinj private tour
Split is a city that grew out of a Roman emperor’s palace. The palace is still standing – people have been living in it for over 17 centuries.
Split is one of the living and breathing monuments both to the way people lived in the past and to different styles and influences that have been carved into its narrow streets, Roman temples, and Christian churches.
Outside the palace, the story of Split continues as it spreads from its center, the palace, to beautiful vistas on the hill of Marjan, to the old town, waterfront (Riva), and its beaches.
After the Split tour, your driver will take you to Klis, a medieval fortress situated above a village bearing the same name, near the city of Split.
From its origin as a small stronghold built by ancient Illyrian tribe Dalmatae, becoming a royal castle that was the seat of many Croatian kings, to its final development as a large fortress during the Ottoman wars in Europe, Klis Fortress has guarded the frontier, being lost and re-conquered several times throughout its more than two thousand-year-long histories.
You will also get to visit Sinj, a famous city in the Croatian history, where for over 300 years, the chivalry game – Alka is taking place in the glory of withstanding the Ottoman siege of the town in 1715. In Sinj, you will get to visit the Alka museum and have optional traditional lunch in one of the restaurants.
