Prehistoric and wine-food tour in Croatian Zagorje

The Museum of Neanderthals represents a magical and mystical idea of the prehistoric people of Europe. They are one of the many secrets of the beginning of the human race. Do we still ask ourselves who were those people who lived between 30,000 and almost 300,000 years ago? The museum is located near the world-famous site of the Krapina Neanderthals „Hušnjakovo“, a fact which makes it a unique visiting complex. The Museum’s architecture evokes the habitat of the prehistoric man: the semi-cave, the volume, proportions and the front of which are a result of the analysis done on the appearance of the ancient Krapina semi-cave. The Krapina Neanderthal museum opened on February 27, 2010. seeks to attract new audiences, offering a closer view of the life of Neanderthals focused on Stone Age inhabitants who lived in this area. ‘Hušnjakovo’ is one of the most important Paleo-anthropological world sights, but the cave no longer exists as it collapsed.

Trakoscan

The castle Trakoscan, the most beautiful castle in Croatia that was built as a small medieval castle. According to legend, Trakoscan was named after the Thracian fortress (ARX Thacorum) which allegedly existed in antiquity. Another legend says it is named after the knights Drachenstein who in the early Middle Ages, ruled the region. In 1954 the museum was established with a permanent exhibition. Today the castle is owned by the Republic of Croatia.
