FROM ZAGREB TO LJUBLJANA AND BLED LAKE
Ljubljana and Lake Bled day trip from Zagreb is the perfect way to discover two of Slovenia’s most iconic destinations in one unforgettable day. Just 2 hours’ drive from Zagreb, you can visit the amazing Lake Bled, surrounded by the mountains of the Julian Alps and forests situated in a picturesque environment. With mixed glacial and tectonic origins, Lake Bled’s maximum depth is 29,5 m / 97 ft. The lake surrounds the small island of the same name as the lake, Bled Island, which has several buildings.

The main one is the pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, built near the end of the 17th century, decorated with remains of Gothic frescos from 1470, in the Presbyterian and rich Baroque equipment. The church has a 52 m (171 ft) tower, and there is a Baroque stairway from 1655 with 99 stone steps leading up to the top of the island. The church is an interesting place to visit; well know spot for tourists. This Ljubljana and Lake Bled day trip gives you plenty of time to admire Lake Bled’s famous island, its historic church and the spectacular Alpine scenery. Weddings are held there very often, and it’s considered good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the steps on the day of their wedding before ringing the bell and making a wish inside the church.
