There have been a lot of talks about Croatian wines…Every story has its origin, and this tour takes you right to the point of origin!

Miljenko Mike Grgić was born in Croatia

Miljenko Mike Grgić, or Mike Grgich, was born in Croatia as the youngest of eleven children in the village of Desne near Metković where the family owned a small vineyard and winery.

Mike Grgich’s wine story began when he won with his wine in the Judgment of Paris in 1976. It was a historical comparative tasting and evaluation of French and American wines,

In 1996 Croatian-born Miljenko “Mike” Grgich and his daughter, Violet Grgić, and his nephew Ivo Jeramaz established Grgić Vina, in Croatia, on the Pelješac peninsula, in southern Dalmatia.

Mike started the winery to produce the finest wines from native Dalmatian grapes, and he concentrates on crafting Croatia’s very best varietals: Plavac Mali (red wine) and Pošip (white wine). The winery is located in Trstenik on the Peljesac peninsula, with a stunning view over the Mediterranean Sea.

Let’s include a trio of wine-tasting stories at Croatia’s most respected wine cellars and let’s visit their vineyards on the slopes of this magnificent peninsula of Pelješac and have a typical Dalmatian lunch at the Mali Ston.

According to the well-known story, this famous grape originally comes from South part of Dalmatia, and you are going to experience, as we mentioned, the point of origin – the soil, the sun, and wineries famous for producing the Zinfandel, that you have tasted someplace else – maybe in California. That’s the reason we are taking you to visit the Grgich winery in Trstenik. Miljenko Grgić studied wine-making in Zagreb. After migrating to the US, with only $20 in his pocket, he founded the famous Grgić Hills winery in Napa Valley but not before he made a name for himself being part of Chateau Montelena's success story in the 70s! While you visit the Grgić cellars, you will taste their famous white Posip and their red Plavac Mali Dingač. The winery is located on a hill overlooking the Trstenik harbor. And on the way – one more, Madirazza winery. Now you know a lot – and there is nothing more to say – maybe just; Živjeli- in Croatian or in English – Cheers!; Our final lunchtime will be to the Mali Ston where you can taste amazing fish meals and have the opportunity to try fresh oysters. All accompanied by wines from Pelješac… Price per pax:
